The dress has stretch. What is rigid is the design, which leaves no flexibility in the fit.

BR has a number of flattering, structured dresses this season, but the tailoring is so precise you really have to find the exact right fit to get the intended silhouette. I haven't managed that yet which has been frustrating. I'm 5'4", 129 lbs, 34/36A. I tried both the XS and S. XS fit my bust but was too tight in the waist. S fit my waist but was a little big in the bust. Both were also long in the torso. I think I ultimately need a Petite, but those are always the first sizes to sell out. I can usually swing a Regular size at Anthropologie, but since these BR dresses are so rigid, there's just no flexibility, and not enough petite sizes to go around.

I tried on this dress in store in a M and, because the top portion is super stretchy, it was too big. They didn't have a S in store or online. I kept watching the dress online for a restock and, to my surprise, it was back and on sale! It was back for literally a day and sold out again, so don't hesitate if your size is available. I knew it would sell out fast and was torn between a S and XS. Because the top was so stretchy, I ordered the XS. Thankfully, it arrived yesterday and fits perfectly. No need to tailor the bottom for length - which is amazing because I often have to tailor dresses and pants. I'm 5'3 and it feels like, length-wise, things are made for people who are model height. OMG, this dress is so flattering and beautiful, and the quality is great. I usually wear a size M, and this fit me like a glove. I love Banana Republic.

Get the dress!!! Honestly, it's such a beautiful fit: flattering yet easy. I find the fitted bodice to be quite forgiving, as I have a postpartum little bump that stays forever and you cannot see it with this dress. Gorgeous!

Beautiful dress and quality. I am on the shorter side 5'3" and have a shorter torso, the cinching on the tank top part falls a little awkwardly long on me but I would recommend the dress overall.

The dress didn't fit quite well for my curves. If the fabric was a bit softer, then maybe it would have been more suiting.

Absolutely an amazing dress! The secret is trying this dress on! Not only is the dress stylish & high quality but the magic is in the fit. Seriously, try this dress on! The fit is incredible! It's transformative! I feel so deliciously fantastic wearing it, no kidding! The sculpted-stretch top of dress hugs just perfectly. Feels like a bit of compression, like it's holding you in for that lovely shape. Beautiful dress and great quality, but not the best fit for me. The pockets made my hip area look larger, and the style felt a bit too youthful for my taste. If I was 10-20 years younger perhaps I would keep it.
