It's a really cool statement piece if you like textured clothes with materials like canvas and denim. This skirt is made with a thick denim, so it's great for early spring, fall and winter (I'm in Chicago). The label warns for the richly dark indigo dye rubbing off on light colored fabrics. Strange that Banana Republic didn't make their vendor use a color fixative on the fabric, given the high price of the skirt, but you can do it yourself: I bought a bottle of Retayne and you put 2-3 teaspoons of it into a bucket of 140 F degree water, stir the skirt around in it for 20 minutes, place the skirt in the washing machine for just a speed wash in tap cold (coldest) water setting with NO detergent, and then let it line dry. The only thing is that the skirt will shrink a bit afterwards, so account for this when you buy it (maybe best to buy it in-store). I'm 5.4 with regular build, a bit of hips + butt, and I bought a size 2. Before the Retayne treatment, I was able to pull up the skirt over my hips. Now I have to pull it down over my head instead. The skirt ends above my ankle, but the picture of the skirt on the website seems to do the same. The skirt looks very cool, and I'm relieved I was able to prevent future color bleed and still be able to wear it after a bit of shrinkage. The care instructions also tell you not to wash the belt, which is wise (or at least just hand wash it). The ends of the belt could curl slightly after a machine wash. Iron on not too hot setting to get the wrinkles out. The sewing job is really nice. I'm just concerned about the dainty little handle on the zipper; be careful as you pull the zipper down as there's some thicker fabric surrounding it. My photos are taking in a room with natural window light and in a darker closet with a light bulb.

I love this skirt but the sizing is way off. I always go up a size in denim, I purchased a size 10, it fell right to the floor. I went back to store, I tried it on for the sales person and she recommended I order a size 6. I was skeptical but allowed her to order the size 6, I tried it on and it fit with room to spare. The sizing seems way off. Last but importantly all this material in the skirt and they couldn't add Pockets!

Styling this skirt has been so fun! From a cute short t, to a nice blouse. Dress up or dress down this skirt has been so versatile. It was also so nice to be able to order this skirt it a petite. Being 5'2" it's hard to find skirts that a not too long.

Perfect denim skirt! The style is very flattering. I usually wear petite but I like long skirts so I got size 2 regular. I got both colors ;)

This skirt is very stylish and unique. The tailoring and quality of material is outstanding. It is a bit heavy but it does fall beautifully. I bought the ecru in my usual size P00. The length is similar to the model's; the waist is a weeny bit big but manageable. I personally would have like this style in a lighter material. I am 5ft and 102 lbs.
