These pants combine the elegance of a pleated pant with the relaxed fit of a chino. I couldn't be happier with the way they fit on body and the silhouette they create.
The frustrating part about criticizing this whole barrel leg trend is that you're usually lambasted as a skinny jean guy as in a swift dismissal, but that's not me. Actually, I don't own any jeans. Todd Snyder Gurkhas are my usual pick, along with their side tab trousers, as well as some Alex Mill a...nd Buck Mason stuff. None of that is particularly skinny or "safe." But I'm going on a trip soon where I expect rough daily wear but don't want to wear athleisure, so figured now would be as good a time as any to try this stuff out. Nope. I just don't like it. WGSN poisoned the water supply while trend-chasing folks enabled it. These aren't timeless, they aren't "heritage," and they aren't attractive. These are worn no doubt exclusively by men who are told what to wear by slubbily dressed men on social media who would look good in anything. If that's not you, then nor are these for you. I gave them a good shake. They sit adjacent to me now having been tried on and I just can't make allies with these things. The good: the rise, the pleats, the color, and the sturdiness. So most things. So why the one star? Because despite everything they have going for them, I still feel a deep dislike of them.

These are excellent pants. The cotton drapes richly and the classic cut recalls an era when trousers were dynamic and alive, folding and holding the light in interesting ways, and moving with the wearer. The legs are full and genuinely straight from seat to leg opening; the rise is classically high; and it is complemented with a corduroy lining and robust well made fastenings. My only regret is that they don't come in more colors! The world needs more real classic pleated khakis.
