I'm petite and, per BR's official petite size chart, a 4P should measure Bust 33¾", Natural Waist 27", Hip 36¾". I checked this chart carefully before ordering and have consistently worn 4P at Banana Republic with a good fit. The Stretch-Crepe Ruched Midi Dress I received in 4P does not match these measurements, it runs significantly smaller and I could not get it on comfortably, despite following BR's own sizing guide exactly. If the fabric doesn't have enough stretch to reach the listed measurements, or if this style runs small, that's not disclosed anywhere on the product page. This was final sale, so I have no way to exchange or return it. Extremely disappointed given how carefully I followed the sizing guide. I will not be purchasing from Banana Republic again.

I ordered my regular size 4, but could go even one size down BC's of the style and design. Nice neck line as well

Very cute form fitting dress. I am 5'6 165 pounds and I bought a size 12 then bought a 10. The 23 fit but wasn't snug enough for the style of dress and it puckered at the top of the shoulders. The 20 fit perfect in the body area with still a little pucker and the shoulder but overall a great dress

I followed the size guide and the dress is way too big. I got a small and it's huge. I'm not petite, kind of curvy, but still it looks awful on me. Sleeves are too long, shoulders too wide… Not stretchy or sexy as I would have imagined

This is probably one of my best purchases this year. I am glad my size was still available to buy. This dress is gorgeous. Hugs my hour-glass figure just the right way.

This dress is gorgeous in a chocolate brown. Beautiful attention to details. Zipper up in the legs to provide extra room to walk. Zippers at sleeves for same reason. Perfectly rushed in all the right places. Be a knockout in this dress. Simple yet elegant. Ordered normal size. Can't wait to wear it.

I have this dress in black. I feel like it ran a size large. I would recommend sizing down as it stretchy. Super flattering dress, hugs my body beautifully and looks gorgeous on.

The ruching adds volume which is not flattering around the mid section. It turned my hourglass figure into a rectangle.
