I've tried all the cashmere sweaters of competing brands at a similar price point— Uniqlo, H&M, Quince, Madewell, Everlane, Polo Ralph Lauren and J Crew. Banana Republic has better quality than all of these competitors. I absolutely love these cashmere sweaters and have now purchased six in differ...ent colors. They are so soft, they are reasonably thick, and there is minimal pilling. Not itchy at all. Many of their competitors have cashmere that is quite thin, pills so easily, or are itchy to wear. Not to mention—Banana Republic is offering this at a competitive price, at or under the price of some of these other brands. The other great thing is that the Banana Republic cashmere uses The Good Cashmere Standard, so the cashmere is sourced ethically and sustainably.
Like other negative reviews are saying, the gauge of this sweater is too low (to save cost?), making it see-through and not flattering. Also the fabric feels just like merino wool, not the luxurious cashmere that I was expecting. Buying this, it seems you get the worst of all worlds for no benefit...: expensive, not luxurious feeling, needs care when washing, thin fabric.
