This could have been a lovely tuxedo jacket, but as another customer has indicated this is not as its described. According to the fabric description it is supposed to have a 100% silk lapel. The lapel on this jacket is wool, like the rest of the jacket. I contacted customer service, who advised that it might be a fluke, so I ordered a second jacket but it too has a wool lapel. It really is a nice jacket, but I'm not sure you can call this a tuxedo?

The collar and lapel look and feel exactly identical to the flat, matte wool on the rest of the jacket. There is zero contrast, zero silk fabric paneling, and no horizontal ribbing whatsoever. It looks like a standard blazer cut into a shawl shape rather than a formal tuxedo jacket. For a garment at this price point, this level of poor quality control is completely unacceptable. Banana Republic is supposed to be elevating its brand, but leaving off the core formal element of a tuxedo jacket is a huge oversight.I will be returning this immediately. Buyers beware—be sure to check your lapels carefully to make sure you actually get the silk you paid for.

This tux is so rad, makes me look and feel like a movie star. Fit is actually relaxed, natural shoulder. Can't tell how canvassed it is, but it's awesome. A no-brainer buy. I don't know if it's Zac Posen working his magic, but BR has stepped it WAY up. Feels like quality at 2-3x price point.

Most perfect tux I have ever worn. Get your exact chest size and let the style do the rest. This is NOT an Italian cut suit, it is an American Sack Suit style. It is supposed to look relaxed. If you try to size down to be slimmer you will ruin the Relaxed look AND the European look.
