This is a nice blazer. I ordered a 36/short size. The shoulder is a little bit too wide on my body, otherwise it just fits my body nicely. I wish the fabric of this velvet blazer is a little bit thick. But it was on sale, so I keep it.

The fabric and color and overall cut are nice, and that makes the short sleeves all the more disappointing. This has happened a few times recently on blazers I have purchased for my (tall) partner. The blazer size I have always purchased for him from Banana Republic no longer works because the sleeves are too short. I compared it to previous BR blazers and the main problem is in the shorter length of the shoulders rather than the sleeves themselves. The reduced shoulder size causes the sleeves to bunch up higher on the arm. It is very disappointing since BR is one of the few lines that carries tall sizes for men, but now they can no longer be relied upon. I will have to return this jacket.

This is a beautiful jacket. My partner loved it. Except there was one major problem — the sleeves are shockingly short even on a 44L. The sleeves were three inches too short, to be precise. It is really awful when Banana Republic lets one of their manufacturers cheap out on production in this way. In this case, an otherwise gorgeous jacket is ruined by a brutal profit motive that leaves the jacket with ridiculously short sleeves. They may have saved fabric and costs, but this is an unforgivable waste.
