Every piece remains authentic to its time, celebrating craftsmanship, material richness, and history.

Where it All Began

Founded by Mel and Patricia Ziegler, a journalist and an illustrator inspired by a vintage utility jacket, the first Banana Republic store opened in Mill Valley, California. What began as a travel outfitter evolved into a storytelling brand known for collectible catalogs filled with essays, illustrations, and travel dispatches. The Archive revisits that legacy with garments that reflect the brand’s earliest adventures.
