Banana Republic’s legacy began with a journey, and now it comes full circle. The Archive is a new collection of vintage Banana Republic apparel and ephemera curated to honor our adventurous past. Drop 01 features one-of-a-kind vintage pieces from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, reclaimed, revived, and ready to wear again.

Every piece remains authentic to its time, celebrating craftsmanship, material richness, and history.

Where it All Began

Founded by Mel and Patricia Ziegler, a journalist and an illustrator inspired by a vintage utility jacket, the first Banana Republic store opened in Mill Valley, California. What began as a travel outfitter evolved into a storytelling brand known for collectible catalogs filled with essays, illustrations, and travel dispatches. The Archive revisits that legacy with garments that reflect the brand’s earliest adventures.
